Baseball is about to investigate itself. Not because it is fighting with its collective conscience over the effects of steroids on baseball. Not because it is concerned that some kid in sacramento is going to harm himself trying to be “like Barry”. Not because outraged fans are beating down Bud’s door and demanding it. Commissioner Selig is opening an investigation into Barry Bonds and illegal substance abuse in baseball because he is being forced to by Congress.
The Great Black Scare
Michael Eisner–Everyone’s Favorite Ex-CEO
Michael Eisner was pretty summarily pushed out of Disney a while back. And most everybody seemed to think that was a good thing. Steve Jobs liked the idea so much that instead of signing a new distribution agreement, something Eisner had not been able to deliver, he actually sold them his whole company and dropped into a Board seat. Oh, and he now is Disney’s largest shareholder.
A Hard Lesson in Ubiquitous Connections
I’m generally pretty happy with my Internet service from Comcast. It costs too much ($45/month) but I get speeds that range between 2-3X T1–not too shabby. That’s generally fast enough for any content I find on the web. I’ve got the home network set up so I can use my PowerBook anywhere I want to be. It works out just fine.
Technorati Rave and Rant
I’ve been tagging this site almost since the beginning to work with Technorati, Delicious and other social networking sites. Of these, Technorati seems to drive more traffic to LostInaFog than the others. It’s also the service that I use myself the most. Safari has an RSS reader built in. I’ve set up a folder on the bookmark bar that includes all of my RSS feeds. These include feeds directly from many sites (way too many) that I like to check often for new content, as well as about 2 dozen technorati feeds of different tags–e.g. apple, origami, treo, blogging, etc. These change with my interests.
Secretly Recorded from Apple vs Apple Closed Door Hearing

As you may know, Apple Computer and Apple Corps will be back in Court this week for the third time to fight over whether Apple Computer has been naughty in using that name for its music business. A secret closed door hearing last week brought all the main players together for a last ditch settlement discussion. Luckily, Lostinafog has once again (miraculously) been able to attain an account of that meeting…
Microsoft Vista Will Be Late(r) and I Don’t Care!
There’s been a bit of a brouhaha going on between Microsoft blogger Scoble and some never-heard-of-them Australian site with articles here and here. I don’ t know Smarthouse, but Squash has a nice piece on the journalist at the center of the storm.
If you have an hour to kill and masochistic tendencies, punch through the Scobelizer link above and read the 100+ comment conversation. The gist of it all seems to be this:
NBC Decides Viral Video Works–But No YouTube For Now
A few weeks ago Saturday Night Live became cool again through the fun of an original music video called Lazy Sunday by Chris Parnell and Andy Samberg. It was SNL humor that reminded us that we use to love this show and the humor. It became a viral hit as folks by the hundreds posted copies of the video to YouTube faster than NBC’s lawyers and YouTube could pull them down. They say that 5 million copies were downloaded from YouTube alone.
Believe None of What You See
This is old news for any of you who have been using a computer and image editing software for any period, but don’t believe the legitimacy of any photos you see in print. And I don’t just mean the ones showing W shaking hands with tall grey aliens.
Check out Blog Renee’s short piece on the joys of photo alteration. She shows just a couple of examples but it should be enough to make the point. And gosh, who knew Cameron wasn’t better endowed?
Killer Rotisserie Baseball Geekdom

Nearly ten years back a fellow rotisserie league baseball player pitched me a murder mystery plot that revolved around a serial killer knocking off major leaguers in order to win his local fantasy league. Yeah, some of these people are that…umm….dedicated.
LostInaFog Frappr Map
Hey there folks. I signed up for a Frappr map for the site and added a small link on the right sidebar there. If you come for a visit please stick it to us by adding your pin to the map. Because if its just me after a few days, I think I’ll take it down in shame! It also offers an excellent venue for calling me names. how can you resist?
Be Happy

This month’s Fast Company has an article about James Montier, the Global Equity Strategist for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. Do you remember that name? He made a bit of a splash a couple of years ago by putting out a “research report” entitled “The Psychology of Happiness”. The subheading reads–
If you are after specific investment advice, stop reading now. We seek to explore one of Adam Smith’s obsessions: what it means to be happy. We also discuss why that’s important to investors, and how we can seek to improve our own levels of happiness…
Apple April Announcements–Updated
You know its coming…Apple’s 30th Anniversary is April 1st and we all expect (Steve as much as said so) some cool anouncements in early April. Of course I have no idea, no inside information, no tipsters. But I do have a brain and some of the next steps seem obvious. So here’s what’s coming…
New iBook replacement–this will be the low end of the MacBook line as the iBook and PowerBook lines merge into the new name. It’ll be single core and sounds like it will carry a 13″ screen. Likelihood is 90%.
