Kevin 2.0 looks to have uncovered the agency video for the Origami project at Microsoft that we talked about yeaterday. Click over to his site and follow the directions to the video. It looks like all the fuss is over a new micro-tablet, dockable and wireless connected. Looks kind of fun…

Change in RSS Feed–Moved to Feedburner
I serve the Atom and RSS feeds from my site for those of you who prefer to keep up with new posts through an RSS Reader instead of having to come to the site. But I couldn’t figure out a way to see how many readers were using the feeds in any good way. So I made a change last night and dropped the links on the site for those feeds and instead added a
Feedburner Feed. This should make little difference to the readers, hopefully. If you subscribed using one of the buttons on the left sidebar to the old feeds, I think they will keep coming. But if you are willing I would appreciate you dumping that link and resubscribing using the RSS Feed link in the left bar that links through Feedburner (or

Web 2.0: Flyspy looks brilliant
It can be easy to make fun of all the Web 2.0 hype. I expect to see that tag attached to a new multiplayer tic-tac-toe game shortly. But Flyspy looks brilliant! Check out TechCrunch’s write up. Its still in development stage and not public yet, but soon…very soon….
This looks like a much more entertaining way to waste some hours than Sudoku…and maybe I’ll actually go somewhere.
Support more inane rambling by buying me a beer! Why Are We All So Stupid: Media Mogul Edition
Despite as much evidence agin ‘em as for ‘em, the Big Media continues to push and push for the broadcast flag or equally stupid control over our content consumption. Today’s big idiocy comes from HBO. Ars Tecnica, Zatz Not Funny, and RealTechNews all have good takes on this news.

I’ve been getting a ton of “comment spam” in the last few weeks. None of it makes through to the site because I require moderation of the comments before posting them publicly. But I’ve been spending too much time reading through and deleting the garbage. So I’ve added a WordPress plug in called Spam Karma to help with this. Its supposed to stop 95% of the incoming crap. We’ll see. Anyway, if anybody has any trouble posting a comment, please let me know. My contact info is at the bottom of the MyStatus box in the right toolbar.
AT&T Chief Sticks Head Up His Ass (surprised to find out its his own)
UPDATED
The Financial Times ran this story on Monday quoting AT&T Chairman Whitacres warnings that SOMEBODY is going to have to pay for the bigger and bigger pipes needed for all this internet traffic, and it sure as hell isn’t going to be him. Man, this guy needs to get out a bit more.
New DRM Laws for 2006
WASHINGTON, DC — Each new year brings with it new laws, many of which became effective on January 1, 2006. Having seen the huge success the Motion Pictures Asssociation and the Recording Industry Association had in protecting their material through draconian DRM measures in 2005, several other industry groups lined the halls of congress in 2005 looking to protect their assets, also.
The Great Magazine Experiment (#4) — Cost: 16 Mags, 300 Issues, for one year, less than $72
The Great Magazine Experiment includes two big costs–the monetary cost to subscribe to all these mags and the time cost devoted to reading them. The latter will be explored along the way as I report back on the results. But the Monetary cost can be laid out fairly completely right now. The list today includes 16 magazines (pending decision to renew New Yorker and Esquire, not currently included in the list here. There are 12 monthly titles, 2 that are biweekly, and 2 weeklies. Some of these were bought in package deals, most as annual subscriptions, but a couple as multi-year subscriptions. The discounter that I purchased most of these from (and affiliate with) is MagsforLess. They offer some free magazines for points you earn by buying other titles from them. So, I have a couple of freebies coming from them for the purchases made for this experiment thus far.
New and Improved Tagging on Lostinafog
I switched out my tagging plugin as the one I used on my first try is no longer being updated by its author. Hopefully now the posts will get properly picked up by technorati and the other search tag sights. Also, I now have a little section in the left side bar called Tags that shows my tagging cloud. If you click on any of the words there it will give you all (or at least a bunch of the most recent) posts that were so tagged. I need to work out a solid list of basic tags and also fix the mess of current categories I use or do away with those entirely. I would appreciate a note if anybody has problems with these new links and tags.
Apple’s new product line up…
The BIG CHANGE starts for Apple this week as they (reportedly) will introduce the first of the new Intel chip based Macs. Also expected this week from Apple are:
First Stab at Favorite Stuff page is up…
I finally got around to building that My Favorite Stuff page. It now includes the Mac, iPod and Mac Software links along with the Diet & Exercise tools. I’ll add more categories and keep it updated. Check there for links that help support lostinafog.com. Feedback welcome.
